The person behind
this site
I, Peter Damen, born in The Netherlands in 1965
(but with a flat age of only17 years), am the person
behind this site. I have an interest in science from as
long as I know. When I was about 7-8 years old, I
became fascinated by time. In the 70's, we had a
children's TV programme in the Netherlands in
which a good magician and his daughter could stop
time with a squirt of their fingers ('Tita Tovenaar').
That intrigued me enormously. Around that time I
also read a scary comic strip about a bewitched
clock, in which someone became a prisoner of time
(basically a kind of scary version of the fantastic
movie 'Groundhog Day').
During middle and high school (the type I attended
is called 'VWO' in the Netherlands) I loved science,
but was disapointed to realize that I wouldn't get an
answer to my main question: "What is time?". I
considered going to college studying physics, but
eventually started to study biology at Utrecht
University (The Netherlands), as I wasn't accepted
in veterinary medicine due to a numerus fixus. There
I learned that biology is essentially the application of
physics and chemistry (which is essentially an
application of physics, although chemists may
disagree…) to systems that we call 'alive' (whatever
that may be).
After that I did my PhD in developmental biology,
also at Utrecht University, which resulted in the PhD
thesis 'Cell-lineage, and specification of
developmental fate and dorsoventral organisation in
the mollusc Patella vulgata'. This gave me a solid
scientific foundation, which helped me in developing
my physical theories and models as described on
this website.
After my PhD I briefly worked in the Department of
Anatomy and Developmental Biology at University
College London (U.K.), after which I started a
pharmaceutical consultancy agency, specializing in
writing various pharmaceutical documents
necessary for registering pharmaceutical products in
the EU.
As my interests are diverse, I have also been busy
with professional photography and tutoring in exact
sciences, and in my spare free time I practice
traditional karate-do (a self-defense martial art) for
over 30 years, and run a small karate school.
On October 26, 2021 I had a so-called eureka
moment in which I visualized how time functions.
Since then, I have been busy (obsessively according
to some friends...) writing everything down. More
than three years later, this has resulted in several
physical theories and models that are described on
this website. At the time of writing (in March 2025),
the end of this painstaking process appears to be
near.....
